Present Paradox

The hallway stretches endlessly, lined with identical doors and waxed to a pristine shine that reflects the flickering overhead lights. But through the windows, the forest presses in, thick and untouched. It's breathing mist against the glass. The air smells of damp earth, crushed fir needles, and the chemical sting of floor polish fighting a losing battle against the creeping damp.

You're caught between two worlds that shouldn't exist together.

The sterile, ordered hotel on one side and the ancient, suffocating wilderness on the other. The trees are too still, and the sky is a shade of green that matches the hallway carpet perfectly. You can hear the rustle of leaves, but there is no wind, and the door behind you has no handle. The forest is closer than it was yesterday.
